Shit Chicagoans Say

  • Alex

So, you want us to laugh when you grimace at the thought of the Green Line. And the Pink Line. And Andersonville (“lesbianworld”). Can you see why this video comes across as close-minded? Some of the lines are funny, but this would be much, MUCH better without the parts that rip on black, brown, and gay Chicago. What do you think?

ADMIN NOTE: I do not think this video is closed minded at all. I call Andersonville “Lesbianworld” because that’s what my lesbian friends call it. It’s not negative and I fail to see how it’s any different than saying Boystown. I am a strong supporter of the LGBT community not only socially but monetarily. I also fail to see how saying “I don’t get the Pink Line” or not liking the Green Line is a “rip” on “black or brown” people? It’s a rip on the line and has nothing to do with the color of someones skin. I have zero problems with someones race or sexual orientation and I think you are making a huge jump when you assume I do.

  • Alex

Oh, and if you tweak the video, I’ll buy all of you a round of hot chocolate at Cafe Jumping Bean by the 18th street Pink Line station! Or we can go for a nice walk together at the Garfield Park Conservatory. :)

  • RM

I agree with Alex. Also, no one had a midwest/Chicago accent. Iconic Chicago foods like dogs, deep dish, pizza puffs, perogies, etc. were downplayed. No mention of Sox or Da Bears. It was funnier to me before I started reading your Screw You Kid section on your blog and now I just think you’re more cruel and have major daddy issues than funny anyway.

  • teresa

Really funny from a northsider…ha ha ha .. Are you related to Kevin Bacon?

  • JAMES THOMPSON

HEY… IM BLACK….AND THIS WAS FUNNY…. ONE OF THE BEST VIDEOS I HAVE EVER WATCHED KEEP IT UP IM A FAN!!!!!

  • Kirsten

It should be renamed Sh*t Northsiders say. Also, people this is named Sh*t Chicagoans Say and if Kevin lives on the Northside then these are things we ALL here up on this side of town on a daily basis.

  • Kirsten

Correction….hear…typing to fast up HERE on the Northside ;P

  • Mordecai

That is hilarious. I am absolutely loving the fact that people are pissed because the video stereotypes chicagoans. Apparently they didn’t read the title, or just don’t understand. My one question is: what is that song at the end?

  • Erica

Absolutely hysterical! And SO true!:) Love the hot dog reference…brilliantly done!

  • Jon

I this video was hilarious. Don’t let all the hate get to you, really it shows how immature and uneducated some people are.

  • MC

Where are those sweatshirts from? Basic colors with fat white strings…

  • SOUTHSIDE JAKE

That “Sh*t Chicgoans Say” video should be re-titled, “S*t yuppie, white people who move to Chicago’s north side after growing up in a small town and attending a Big 10 University say”.

THANKS FOR DELETING THIS COMMENT FROM YOUR YOUTUBE.

I agree on it being all the Northside. The guy and brunnette were funny, but the blonde needs to hit IO and learn comedic timing vs. just rambling a list of words related to Chicago. She was not funny. The guy was great.

  • admin

Funny you say that Karen. All three of us graduated from iO at the same time and Tess (the blonde girl) was the only one to make an iO team. Tess is hilarious and a great improvisor. Actually both the girls are better than me.

  • ChiGuy

…might have been better if it wasn’t so forced and acted out.

  • Dave

    Taste the Stupid.

  • Reyn

    Two things:

It’s not hate for the Green and Pink lines, it’s that they’re new and what was the point of them? (Yes, I know there’s a point, but Chicagoans don’t like change, Mayor Daley anyone?).

And my accent only comes out on certain words. I don’t run around making sure I sound like a Chicagoan by saying those words repeatedly (main ones are Ogden, bag, dad, and Chicago).

I loved it and it made me miss home.

  • Mike

Fantastic, and spot on. All of you complainers should turn off WGN and get out of your three-flats and experience the city, then you’d know how accurate this is.

“You don’t live in Chicago, you live in Skokie” FTW!

  • PW

Oh for the love…. its funny. Not everything has to be “a statement” !

  • Jim

Ya forgot “Boys Town” to go with “Lesbianworld” Great job! Keep up to good work.

  • dave N

i enjoyed and im a yuppie in training. keep up the great work! dont mind the haters

  • Tanya

This video is spot on and absolutely hilarious. Everyone complaining either doesn’t get it or is taking this way too seriously. It is 2 and 1/2 minute youtube clip!! There will obviously be more to come just like the video they’re spoofing and the content is endless. Great job you got 180,000 hits on youtube at the end of the day so who the hell cares what these ppl are complaining about! Kudos

  • Paul

As a transplanted Chicagoan who lived in the Northside and has an inherited Southside family, I thought this video was SPOT ON, and yes, it’s more of how things are Northside, but let’s face it everyone – Chicago is an awesome city (save the gangs, mob, tourist, etc), so how could you represent in one video? Locals will connect to it regardless and “outsiders” will have no clue why 773-202-LUNA is funny.

I have just one last thing that will unite us and bring us all together:

    Peter. Francis. Geraci.

  • Bob Bacon

I am Bacon’s Dad, born and raised in Chicago. He learned to love the city and what is represents from me and is completely genuine. I am very proud of his accomplishments, he became a United States Marine, like his Father. That alone is more than anyone who has not earned the Title can claim. He earned GI Bill from his Marine Corps service and put himself through college. Choosing the coolest city in the world to call home is a compliment to The Windy. Awesome job Robert, we are very proud, and “There’s Always Next Year” :-)

  • Kat

This video might be the funniest thing I’ve ever seen. I’ve seen Tess perform before, and she is just as hilarious as I remember. Kudos to the team who wrote such a hilarious video that captures everything I say on a daily basis from living here! “You don’t live in Chicago, you live in Skokie”–FAVORITE ONE

  • Jay

Got a chance to check this out after a few people telling me that “You have to see this!!” “YOU, will really think this is funny!” UMMMM sorry but not really. I thought it would be video capturing people legitimately saying things heard around Chicago. Instead it’s just 3 complete dorks trying too hard to be funny. It’s a funny concept poorly executed.

  • Jay

Oh and I forgot to mention that I live in Andersonville, have for years and NO ONE but I guess your lesbian friend, calls it Lesbianworld.

  • Mike R

How hard was it to create a completely unfunny video
